Cutting Taxes & Reducing Spending
Gayle is a tried and true fiscal conservative who voted to cut $28 billion in taxes as our State Representative. Gayle was one of two Republicans who voted against what would have been the largest sales tax increase in Florida history. She sponsored the renewal of the Florida Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights and consistently voted for important sales tax holidays to provide relief to consumers.

Transforming Health Care
Gayle has served as Chair of three healthcare committees and was a leader in health policy during her eight years in the Florida House of Representatives. She is again involved in health care legislation since her election in 2010. She fought for funding for the HANDS Clinic in St. Lucie County and the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Martin County.
Gayle has worked very closely with Speaker Newt Gingrich and the Center for Health Transformation to implement bold new ideas for Florida in healthcare policy and served as one of the key architects of Medicaid Reform in Florida. Gayle fought for our local hospitals, passing legislation to bring an open heart facility to Martin County and expand the number of beds for St. Lucie County hospitals.

Gayle sponsored legislation to improve reading education in our schools by providing the appropriate teaching methodologies for each student to learn to read. She voted to ensure that school districts have local control of curriculum, empowering local school boards to select K-12 instructional materials they use in their schools thereby assuring parents are given a stronger voice in what their children are taught. She voted to provide opportunities and choice for parents and students and always voted to ensure that our schools are properly funded.

Providing Care For Our Veterans
As a military wife, Gayle has consistently fought for Florida veterans. Among her many accomplishments, she fought to secure funding for the Veteran’s Nursing Home in Port St. Lucie, sponsored and passed College Credit for Military Training and Education Courses, the Veterans Hall of Fame, and tuition waivers.

Protecting Our Environment
Gayle sponsored Legacy Florida, “game changing” legislation to provide over $4 billion of Amendment 1 money for Everglades Restoration, with priority given to stopping the releases from Lake Okeechobee. She has worked with our local County Commissions, City Commissions and Councils, and the St. Lucie River Issues Team to secure over $60 million for local Issue Team projects over the years, over $100 million for the C-44 Canal project in Martin County, $3 million for the Danforth Creek Stormwater project, $30,000 for water testing in the St. Lucie Estuary by the Martin County Health Department, $3 million to control agricultural runoff in the Okeechobee, Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie River watersheds and funding for our local beaches and inlets.
